Overview on the Department

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism and Travel Management is an undergraduate degree with a specialisation in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality. The dynamic curriculum and field oriented activities along with a rigorous internship,  helps prepare each student to embrace the opportunities, improve the shortcomings and face the ongoing and upcoming  challenges of today's Travel and Tourism industry.

The programme aims to provide

- A thorough understanding  of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry along with its different functional and operational areas

- Ability to make effective interventions in the society through personal and professional excellence.

The Master of Tourism and Travel Management programme in CHRIST (Deemed to be University) equips students with the skills of a Business School Graduate relevant to the travel, tourism & hospitality industry.

Comprehensive teaching and learning techniques including live projects, case studies, role-plays, group discussions, presentations, group research and travel laboratories provide a blend of both theoretical competence and individual skill development.  The program places strong emphasis on developing communication, consumer related and service oriented skills.

Candidates who have passed Undergraduate degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% and above, from any recognised University in India or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU, are eligible to apply. Students appearing for their final degree examinations in March-May 2021 are also eligible to apply (Applicants who are in the last year of their studies should have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far)

"The department has an interdisciplinary method inorder to help their students meet the industry standards. The courses also enhance students' critical skills and address questions that are pertinent in the contemporary world. The courses have been designed under two main themes: 

a) Globalisation, Society and the World

b) Technology and Life

What is the duration for the internship?

The MTTM program has 2 forms of internship which are as follows: 

Live Project is an initiative taken up to provide practical learning experience as a part of the Post Graduate, Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM),  programme at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). This is in addition to the mandatory summer internship. The initiative has been included as an important part of the learning pedagogy of the Postgraduate course as it would provide students with an opportunity to convert their academic learning into practical knowledge. It would provide students with Industry experience where they would work under the able guidance of professionals in addition to theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms.  "

What is the duration of the MTTM Program?

The MTTM program is of 2 years duration, consisiting of 4 semesters in total.

How many credits does the student obtain at the end of the program?

The program offers 83 credits at the end of the program.

Does the student get the opportunity to network with Industry professionals?

Yes, the department host various events and sessions on regular basis to help students interact with industry experts from India and abroad. 

What is a Dissertation?

The dissertation is a research project completed as part of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in final year in the university.

c) OnTrack: OnTrack is the Sports Tournament that involves the Travel and Hospitality Industry professionals to come aboard the campus grounds and relive their college days by participating in the students' various sports events.

d) Jharoka: Jharokha is an event organised by the first year MTTM students, which brings together the Tourism Department's alumni.

e) Travelite: Travelitez is India's first hospitality quiz conducted in conjunction with Exodus. "

"The association that help nurture the students of MTTM are as follows: 

a) IATA / UFTAA: CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is an Authorized Training Center (ATC) to offer IATA / UFTAA Foundation Level I and Consultant Level II programmes.

b) PATA: Pacific Asia Travel Association is a not-for-profit membership-based association that acts as a catalyst for responsible travel and tourism development to, from and within the Asia Pacific region. 

c)India Tourism, Ministry of Tourism: A branch of the Government of India, is the apex body for formulation and administration of the rules, regulations and laws relating to the development and promotion of tourism in India."

Are there any trips or trainings organised for the students?

"Yes, there are various trips organised for the students of the MTTM program, which are categorised as follows: 

a) Outbound Training: The outbound training programme is organised for the students to encourage their spirit of adventure and teamwork.

b) National Tour: The objective of conducting the national tour is to allow the students to experience a particular destination's regional culture and lifestyle.

c) International Tour: The international tour's objective is to allow the students to fly to an international destination, gain knowledge on immigration, passport and visa procedures."
