Overview on the Department
The primary objective of the department is to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in frontline areas of electronics and its derived Engineering and Technology. The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department has a rich tradition in research and teaching. The research interests of the faculty members of the department encompass the wide area of applied and fundamental aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Collaboration in between the research groups of the department and with other departments is also a practice.

About the Department
The department was established in the year 2009 and we are presently offering two UG Programmes, one PG Programme and PhD Programme. The department provides unique opportunities for aspiring students by offering an ambience different from that of conventional methods and together facilitating conversations across multi-discipline research areas.
We concentrate on the major research domains under ECE, establish state of art facility that creates new opportunities for research collaboration within and across the institutes. It has provided avenues for new research areas for the UG,PG and Ph.D students seeking admission into the department.
To make the faculty up to date armed with knowledge to train the ever-inquisitive young minds we push our standards higher regularly. The department provides unique opportunities for aspiring students as they get trained in all aspects of academia as well as the life skills that will help them succeed as they pass out of the university. Different pedagogy adapted by the department groom the students towards the ever-changing landscape of technology with necessary skills required to perform their work meticulously.

Bachelor of Technology Electronics and Communication Engineering [KEN]
Programme Eligibility
Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) Examination from any recognised Board.
Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at +2 level and obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and 50% in Mathematics.
Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2021 may apply with their class X and XI marks.
Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:
Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.
Lateral Entry:
Candidates who have successfully completed the 3 year diploma in Engineering are eligible to apply for lateral entry into engineering programmes.
BTech Electronics and Computer Engineering (with Spl. in AI & ML) [KEN]
Programme Eligibility
Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) Examination from any recognised Board.

Master of Technology Communication Systems (IC Design) [KEN]
Programme Eligibility
Candidates who have passed B.Tech / B.E with 55% aggregate marks from any recognised University in India or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU are eligible to apply.
Students appearing for their final degree examinations in March-May 2021 are also eligible to apply (Applicants who are in the final year of their studies in (B.Tech / B.E) should have secured 55% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far).
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electronics and Communication Engineering [KEN]
Programme Eligibility
ME or MTech or MS or 5 Year integrated MTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering or in related areas from recognized institutions with not less than 55% of marks, or a CGPA of 5.5 and above in the 10 point scale. Students who have completed their post-graduation from an international university must submit an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
CHRIST follows University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D Degrees) Regulations, 2016 and the subsequent Amendments.
Every candidate has to take the PhD Entrance Examination, Skill Assessment and Personal Interview, as per the UGC (minimum standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2016 (#5.1), those who qualify UGC- NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE/teacher fellowship holders or have passed M.Phil Programme shall be exempted from the PhD Entrance Examination. Those candidates take a Research Skill Assessment Test, along with their Personal Interview.

What kind of Infrastructure is available in the department?
The department has state of the art, modern and well-equipped Laboratories and smart class rooms with adequate facilities. Some of the prominent Labs are Embedded Systems Lab, Digital IC design Lab, RF and Microwave Lab, Mobility R&D Lab, Photonics Lab, Virtual Instrumentation Lab, Co-Design Lab. The labs are equipped with HFSS EM simulation software and the state-of-the-art kind of measuring instruments Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, PCB Printing Machine, RF modules and an Anechoic Chamber. Various software tools are also available at their dispense such as MATLAB, Virtex 5, Spartan 6, Spartan 3 FPGA boards and Xilinx Vivado HLS

"Cuestic or Christ University Electronics Students Technical Interaction Club is a major highlight of this department. It's a platform for the students to create technical awareness and to generate interest in the core fields of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics
and Communication Engineering. Several games, activities, cultural programmes, tech-talks, seminars and other competitions are held annually. To represent the student body of this department, three students are selected as the president, vice-president and secretary."
What is the scope of research in the department?
Research is one of the main focus of this department. State-of-the-art system and software program are available for research activities. Moreover the students can access e-Journals such as IEEE journals.
How is the syllabus for this programme?
In your first year you will learn the basics of all the subjects. First year is the Common year for all Branch students. After that from 2nd year, you will study about your Core subjects. Signals & Systems, Control System, Analog & Digital Electronics, Communication System, Electromagnetic field Theory, Microwaves, Digital signal Processing, VLSI, Control system, Networks, Electronics Device & Circuits. These are some of the Major subjects which you will study in your upcoming 4 years.
What is the quality of faculty in the department?
The Department has distinguished faculty, with M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees with years of experience in research and industry. The faculty lays great emphasis on continuous evaluation by means of well organised lectures and lab sessions. Every effort is made to reinforce the concepts taught in the classroom. Apart from teaching, the faculty members have been vigorously pursuing research and had been frequently publishing research papers in diverse countrywide and worldwide Journals of reputation as well as in prestigious conferences.

Regular workshops and seminars are conducted on leading-edge topics like within the area of Embedded systems, wireless communication structures, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and many others for value addition of the students. Moreover, placement training is conducted for pre-final year students.
