The Department runs a range of programmes that include Undergraduate programmes, Post Graduate programmes with four specializations and Doctoral programme. The Department has a unique structure to cater to the interdisciplinary academic pursuit. The focus is to enable students’ branch out into the realms of different disciplines to have blended learning by primarily concentrating on the roots of the main discipline under study.

The most important highlight of the programme is in its name itself. It is a ‘B.Sc.’ and ‘Honours’ degree to be completed in three years, thereby, giving a scientific in-depth knowledge to the subject and offering new avenues in the field.
Students are awarded a greater number of credits than any other psychology undergraduate programme in India, which makes the programme at par with those offered abroad.
The department promotes UG research by teaching students how to critically analyze several research papers and by further encouraging them to participate in various conferences and poster presentation competitions. All the students are also required to complete a supervised dissertation in the final year in order to meet the requirements of the programme.
The department also has a Neuroanatomy lab and Psychology lab as a platform to conduct experiments and to serve practical purposes, making it beneficial for students
The students are required to do two mandatory internships which help them gather hands on experience and make them ready for stepping out into the field.
Students are given opportunities to learn SPSS and NVivo which are softwares utilised for quantitative and qualitiative research respectively in psychology. The programme also has a paper dedicated to developing an understanding about the relationship between Psychology and Artificial intelligence.
Best paper awards are awarded to students to instill scientific rigour within them.
Students are offered a range of open electives like Parapsychology, Creative Movements therapy, Psychology of Interpersonal Violence.
Interdisciplinary subjects like Artificial Intelligence are also a major part of the curriculum.
Psychology Association, is the departmental association that organizes events and programmes that are conducted by the department like Aroha (Intercampus fest) and Prav (Mental Health Awareness week).
Service Learning Cell (SLC) is a working body within the department that follows a sustainable learning strategy, integrating meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, where both the students and the community are benefitted. As part of the cell students work in collaboration with various non-governmental, educational and rehabilitation institutes and carry out various projects under the supervision and guidance of the faculty.
Mental and Counselling Services (MACS) is a group of advocates who aim at creating awareness of mental health through psychoeducation and other forms. Their main objective is to remove stigma regarding mental illness. They conduct activities like interactive sessions, campaigns, listening circles and offer tangible support systems for people in distress.
Aroha: Aroha is the flagship fest organized by the department of psychology. Events for this fest are planned based on different fields under psychology. It is an intra-campus fest that mainly intends to bring psychology enthusiasts together.
Prav : Prav is an initiative by the department of psychology to spread awareness about mental health and bring positivity for better well being. It is organized as a week-long awareness program during the even semesters. Various activities and several workshops engaging discussions like gender psychology, art therapy and much more are usually scheduled along the week.
International Collaborations: The department offers a student exchange program with Liverpool Hope University in the UK, wherein the students get to spend one semester abroad and broaden their horizons.
Numerous guest speakers are invited and several workshops are also conducted frequently to make the programme engaging and informative at the same time.

Master of Science Behavioural Science (Interdisciplinary Masters Programme) [BCC]
Programme Eligibility
Candidates applying for the above programme must possess a recognised undergraduate degree with minimum 50 percent marks. Preference will be given to candidates with work experience. The duration of the programme shall be a minimum of 2 years to a maximum of 4 years with one year extension given to students upon payment of an extension fee.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology [BCC]
Programme Eligibility
CHRIST follows University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D Degrees) Regulations, 2016 and the subsequent Amendments.
The minimum eligibility of candidates intending to pursue a doctoral programme is a pass with a minimum of 55% in the postgraduate programme in the discipline/specialization. Students who have completed their post-graduation from an international university must submit an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Every candidate has to take the PhD Entrance Examination and Interview. However, as per the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2016 (#5.1), those who qualify UGC- NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/GATE/ teacher fellowship holders or have passed M.Phil Programme shall be exempted from the PhD Entrance Examination. Those candidates take a Research Skill Assessment Test along with their Personal Interview.
Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/GATE/ teacher fellowship holder (KSET, SET etc.) or have passed M.Phil Programme may apply for PhD any time of the year by sending their Research Proposal and CV to phd@christuniversity.in

Does the triple major course offer the same number of credits for all three subjects?
No, It varies from semester to semester
After a triple major bachelor's course can we take up a master's degree in any of the three subjects?
Yes, The student can take up masters in any of the three subjects that they have graduated from.
How does a triple major degree vary from an Honour's degree?
A honour's degree is more specialized and intensive as compared to a triple major.
How valid is a triple major degree when applying in foreign univeristies?
It differs for each country. UK universities accept the Indian Degrees and US based universities insist on a four year degree both having their own set of exams
Do we have to complete a research project as part of this Bachelors/ Masters degree?
Yes. It is a mandatory course requirement.
Can I apply for bachelor's in PSENG even if I don't have a psychology background?
Yes.
Can the Msc. PG courses be done post a Bachelor of Arts degree?
Yes, it is an exception only for psychology as a course
What is the evaluation pattern for the bachelor's programmes?
It is a continuous internal assesment throughout the semester, with three internal assesments and end semester exam
Does the department provide placements after completing the Masters degree?
Yes, the department provides the placement opportunities through the placements cell of college.
Can a non-psychology background student apply for PG psychology courses?
Yes, non-psychology background students can apply only for HRDM, Counseling, Educational Psychology. A psychology background is mandatory for Clinical Psychology course.
Does the masters course include internships?
Yes, the course has compulsory internships in the 3rd and 4th semester.
Do we get to specialise in a major from the triple major course during the bachelors degree?
You do get to choose an elective for each subject in the final year, but you cannot specialize in one subject at the cost of the other.
Can I drop a major in a triple major course?
No, all the three majors are core subjects and cannot be ommited through the course.
Do we need to complete a research paper in the PG courses?
Yes, it is a mandatory requirement and presenting it in a conference is a compulsory requirement as well.
BSc Psychology(Honours)[BGR & KEN]
Can we go abroad after the programme?
Yes, students can pursue higher education in aboard after completing the programme.
Is it compulsory to have studied science/psychology subjects in grade 12 to apply for this programme?
No, it is not a necessity. Bridge course classes will be conducted for better knowledge of concepts in science.
What is MACS?
Mental health advocates; webinars are conducted. Trying to break down the stigma of mental health. Not only psychology students but other department students too. Peer mentoring; not professional help but provide a safe space as well as tangible support through psychoeducation and listening circles.
What does honours in BSc Psychology (Honours) means?
Honours is suggestive of how the programme facilitates in-depth, diversified learning that happens on scientific foundations, and provides research opportunities with an emphasis on hands-on experience. In addition to that, there are two compulsory internships and higher number of credits.
How would you suggest a person build their portfolio to apply to abroad universities?
Focus it on a specific course; research papers on that specific field; or extra courses. Different format for different places.
