Overview on the Department
The Department of Sociology and Social Work focuses on academic excellence and skill acquisition of students. Thereby they outperform in all sectors like the corporate sector, government, and non-government. Students engage in pursuit of learning in an atmosphere of critical thinking, spirit of inquiry and scientific temper. Values such as selflessness, devotion and service are blended with leadership skills, social sensitivity and business acumen that transform them into leaders of tomorrow. Inspired by the power of conquering adversities they learn to respond to the ever changing lives and needs of people.
The department initiates programmes that cater to the emerging needs of the various stakeholders in the society. It undertakes research projects, consultancies, intervention programmes and extension activities, organises seminars, workshops, rural exposure camps and field work as part of its curriculum. The value of learning through service is significantly incorporated in the academic programmes. The curriculum offered by the Department provides opportunities for the holistic development of the students and blends learning from the classroom with experiential learning

BA in Psychology, Sociology and Economics [BCC]
Programme Eligibility
Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) in any stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, Sciences) from any recognised Board in India.
Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2021 may apply with their class X and XI marks.
Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:
Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.
Master of Arts Applied Sociology [BCC]
Programme Eligibility
Candidates who have passed Undergraduate degree examination with 50 % aggregate marks from any recognised University in India or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU are eligible to apply.
Students appearing for their final degree examinations in March-May 2021 are also eligible to apply (Applicants who are in the last year of their studies should have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far).

Programme Eligibility

Programme Eligibility
